Each drone football team typically consists of three to five players. Each team designates one drone as the "striker," the only drone eligible to score. Other drones perform defensive, blocking, and support roles, assisting the striker in breaking through the opposing defense and preventing the opposing forward from scoring.

The game is played in an enclosed arena (often called a "cage" or "field") to ensure safety and maintain fair competition boundaries. Each round lasts approximately three minutes, and a match typically consists of three rounds. The team with the most points at the end wins. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death overtime period is played.

This sport requires not only proficient drone flying skills but also a strong reliance on teamwork, tactical strategy, and on-field communication.
